About me
From the other side of the table
I am Roger Bachmann, Swiss, and for ten years I was a recruiter in Swiss Pharma, Biotech and Medtech. I filled roles from junior to VP, read CVs every day and briefed hiring managers on who to meet. Since 2021 I coach the people on the other side of that table.
My own career was not a straight line, so I know what a change feels like from the inside. Today I run my business from a sailboat and work with clients in English and German, wherever they are.

Coaching
I'm a Director, Senior Director or VP. Is this for me?
Yes. As a headhunter I recruited up to VP level, so I know how searches at the top run: fewer roles are advertised, processes take longer and stay confidential, and your network carries more weight than your CV. We work on your positioning, your story for the leadership interviews and your approach to the market.
What does a career coach for Life Sciences professionals do?
A career coach works with you on what decides a job search in Pharma, Biotech and Medtech: your CV, your LinkedIn profile, your interviews and how you approach the market. With me you get it from the recruiter's side, where I worked for ten years.
How is this different from a general career coach or career advisor?
I was a recruiter in Swiss Life Sciences for ten years. You get the view from inside the search: how headhunters find candidates, how shortlists are built and what gets said about you before you meet the hiring manager. No motivation talks.
Do you also work with Biotech, Medtech and Diagnostics?
Yes. I recruited across Swiss Life Sciences, and the coaching covers Pharma, Biotech, Medtech and Diagnostics, from R&D to commercial and operations roles.
How much does career coaching cost?
A coaching hour costs CHF 250, a CV review or a LinkedIn review CHF 100 each. Four sessions cost CHF 1,000. The six-month package costs CHF 3,000 and includes full Career Hub access. Career Hub access on its own is a one-time CHF 100.
Can you help me prepare for a case presentation or a panel interview?
Yes. In a coaching hour, or in the mock interviews of the 6-month package, we run your case presentation or panel the way the company would, and you get straight feedback on content and delivery.
My employer must not know. Is this confidential?
Yes. Nothing you share with me goes to your employer, to recruiters or to anyone else.
Will you pass my CV to recruiters or find me a job?
No. I don't place candidates. With the Career Hub you get the Recruiter Database, so you can reach the headhunters in your field yourself.
Job search and Career Hub
How do headhunters find senior candidates in Pharma?
Mostly through LinkedIn Recruiter searches by keywords, job titles and location, through their own network and through referrals. If your profile doesn't match those searches, you are not on the longlist. The LinkedIn Profile Writing Guide shows you how these searches work.
What is the Recruiter Database?
A list of executive search firms and recruiters active in Swiss Pharma, Biotech and Medtech, researched and checked by me. It is part of full Career Hub access.
How do I explain a layoff or a gap in my CV?
Short and factual, without apologising. Recruiters see restructurings in Pharma all the time. We work out your wording in a coaching hour, so it sounds the same on paper and in the interview.
I'm earlier in my career or a postdoc. Where do I start?
In the Career Hub. The guides and tools cover CV, LinkedIn, interviews and finding roles, and you go through them at your own pace. If you want to work on it with me, add a coaching hour.
I'm not in Switzerland yet. Is this for me?
Yes, if you are aiming for a Life Sciences role in Switzerland. The Swiss Expat Job Search Guide covers permits, relocation and the market. In coaching we work on how to position yourself from abroad.
How do the sessions work?
By video call, in English or German, 60 minutes each. You leave every session with clear next steps.
How long is my purchase valid?
Coaching sessions are valid for six months from purchase. Unused sessions expire after that. Career Hub access is a one-time payment and stays yours, with no subscription.
What happens with my CV and personal data?
I use it only for your service. It is deleted 24 months after the service ends, unless you ask me to keep it longer.
